Access is an outpatient behavioral health clinic. We serve people of all communities and currently offer two locations in Boise and in Nampa. Our desire is to help improve the quality of daily life for our clients.

Biographical Info

Vanessa Johnson is a seasoned mental health professional with over 18 years of experience at Access Behavioral Health. Her journey began after completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Addiction studies in 2006. Vanessa has held various roles within community mental health, starting as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Worker and Case Manager. Over the years, she progressed to become the Director of the program and spearheaded the opening of Peer Support in 2013.

Passionate about recovery and advocacy, Vanessa has dedicated herself to numerous volunteer positions, including Vice President and co-founder of Peer Wellness, and Vice President of the Recovery and Wellness Behavioral Health sub-committee. She has also contributed years of social services to the homeless population.

In 2017, Vanessa earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Simmons College, specializing in mental health and addiction. Since then, she has been providing psychotherapy, with a focus on holistic, strength-based, and trauma-informed approaches. In 2018, Vanessa assumed the role of Director of the Substance Abuse Treatment department.

Vanessa’s expertise spans various therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and an Advanced Certified Addiction Counselor.

With her wealth of experience and dedication to holistic care, Vanessa works with adults and occasionally adolescents, striving to make a positive impact on their mental health and well-being.
